Major responsibilities: This position supports work on a grant project funded by the George and Frances Ball Foundation to digitize, describe, and provide web access to the Bracken Family Papers archival collection held at Archives and Special Collections in the Ball State University Libraries. The position requires the ability to work with fragile and sensitive materials with appropriate care and discretion.

29 hours per week for one year during the hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., MondayFriday.
This vacancy is for a temporary 1-year assignment.

Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent.

One or more years’ experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and general computer equipment; effective oral and written communication skills; experience with record-keeping, data entry, or historical research.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree.

Previous experience working in a library, archives, museum, or other cultural heritage institution.

Job Duties: Create descriptive metadata to inventory and describe archival materials from the Bracken Family Papers, including historic photographs, correspondence, video records, and other records, to be digitized.

Use computer hardware and software to create high-quality digital files for archival materials in this collection according to best practices and procedures developed by Ball State University Libraries.

Manipulate images in Adobe Photoshop for purposes of modification and/or versioning; perform optical character recognition to make digital files searchable.

Develop and input appropriate metadata using Microsoft Access and/or Microsoft Excel.

Track and document work completed on the project using project management workflows and practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.
