The Texas Tech University Libraries seek a dynamic and collaborative individual for the position of Associate Librarian – Architecture Image Librarian. The successful candidate oversees the architecture digital image collection. This position will serve as a team member within the Architecture Library, contributing to reference and instruction. This position is tenure-tracked and reports directly to the Architecture Librarian.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Architecture Image Librarian is responsible for the continued development of the digital image collection of the Architecture Library.
Oversees the acquisition, metadata creation, and management of the image collection for architecture and related fields, using image and metadata standards
Contributes to reference and collaborative projects as a team member of the Architecture Library as assigned
Participates in the development and teaching of library instruction/visual literacy embedded modules mapped to the College of Architecture’s curriculum
Supervises student assistants within the image library
Works on digital initiatives in coordination with the University Libraries
Maintains a professional working relationship with the College of Architecture faculty and students
Demonstrates professional growth through engagement in scholarly pursuits, publishing, and other professional activities in accordance with Texas Tech Libraries’ standards for promotion and tenure
Engages in service to the Libraries and University, and to professional organizations by participating in committee work, projects, and other contributory achievements
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program plus three years library experience. Knowledge of professional library techniques and current library practices.
Degree in architecture, visual arts, art history, or related field; basic knowledge of metadata for images using VRA Core, and image collection standards; experience with database management systems (MediaWiki, DSpace); XML; MS Office; reading knowledge of a Western European language; familiarity with copyright issues pertaining to image acquisition. Excellent organizational skills; knowledge of digital image technology, digital photography, and Adobe Photoshop; strong computing skills; familiarity with library computer systems, demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
