Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Corporation of Delta is offering a unique opportunity for a dynamic and innovative individual as Archivist/Corporate Records Coordinator. As a member of the Municipal Clerk’s Office and corporate records management program team, the incumbent will be instrumental in preserving and making accessible the evidence of Delta’s Past. The incumbent will demonstrate commitment to the provision of high quality archives, records and information management services and will be encouraged to bring forward new ideas and suggest improvements to existing practices. Considerable independence of judgment and action is exercised with policy matters being discussed with a superior.

Key activities include developing and implementing policies, and procedures relative to the organization and development of the municipal archives program and for the life-cycle management of records; will plan, assign & supervise the work of one or more staff, volunteers and students; coordinate & communicate with the non-profit society Delta Museum and Archives Society and will acquire, classify & administer a variety of historical records in various media.

A Master’s Degree in Archival or Information Studies is required, plus 2 years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is required plus:
• Knowledge of: modern archival techniques and procedures; accepted archival standards and other related standards; conservation and preservation for records in all media; long-term management and preservation of electronic records; Records Management and Electronic Document Records Management; the history, growth and development of Canada particularly in relation to British Columbia and Delta; legislation and regulatory standards including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Copyright Act.
• Ability to: communicate and promote the Archives; work independently and also supervise, direct, develop, organize and implement a municipal archival program; recommend processes for the security, evaluation, retention and disposal of municipal records including those in digital form; determine historical significance and suitability of items for the archives; establish and maintain effective relations; manage administrative functions and write reports including statistical analysis; work with InMagic and Photoshop software suites.

A valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license is required.
