Please include instructions for how to apply.: The American Jewish Archives, a division of the Hebrew Union College, seeks a positive, customer service oriented individual for the position of permanent, part-time Archival Assistant. The Archival Assistant works with the AJA’s professionals to respond to reference questions, recommend materials based on patrons’ interests, and to train patrons on the use of the AJA catalog and resources. In addition, this individual may be asked to pull and refile materials and assist in other duties as needed.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a high level of comfort with consumer software, excellent online searching skills, a willingness to work with the AJA’s staff as needed, and the ability to handle information with discretion.

Qualifications:
The applicant must have a minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience, with experience in a public archives or library preferred. The applicant must be able to handle archival boxes weighing up to 30 pounds and push archival carts. Basic knowledge of American history, and American Jewish history specifically, is also preferred.
