General Description: This is a professional, faculty position responsible for providing professional librarian services to university faculty, staff, students and the general public. Responsible for conducting research, providing information and materials in response to requests and acquiring and organizing library resources. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a security-sensitive position. Reports to the Library Director or assigned superior Librarian.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Provides professional reference, research services and/or technical assistance to library users.
2. Catalogs and processes materials ordered and received by the library.
3. Conducts computer-assisted searches of bibliographic and textual databases.
4. Develops library tools and aids.
5. Assists in developing and implementing outreach activities.
6. Stays abreast of developments and emerging trends related to areas specialization.
7. Maintains statistics and prepares departmental reports.
8. May assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
9. May hire, train and supervise student assistants or subordinate staff.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

1. Participates in recruitment and retention activities as appropriate.
2. Serves as needed on library and university committees.
3. May be required to work a flexible schedule including weekend or evening duty.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of professional standards and regulations.
3. Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheets, databases and word processing software.

Education: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution is required.
Experience and Training: Three years of related experience is required. An individual appointed to the rank of Librarian II should have the demonstrated capabilities to be an effective and productive librarian and a contributing member of the academic and general communities as evidenced by substantial job accomplishments and participation in professional library organizations or professional service to the university or the community.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Specific Job Requirements/Duties for this Posting This is a professional, faculty position responsible for soliciting and processing university archival materials from university faculty and staff, colleges, academic units and alumni. Coordinates the digitization and ingestion of ETRC and community archival materials for inclusion in the digital archives repository. Manages the processing of archival collections in all formats (text, image, audio and video) to facilitate access. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a security-sensitive position. Reports to the Director of the East Texas Research Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Manages the processing of archival collections in all formats (text, image, audio and video) to facilitate access.
2. Oversees & maintains the East Texas Digital Archives repository.
3. Trains staff and institutional partners in the use of the East Texas Digital Archives repository.
4. Assesses methodologies and standards for appropriate application and integration in the digital environment.
5. Identifies material for inclusion into the digital repository.
6. Assists in developing public programming and outreach activities, including the research and installation of exhibits, tours, orientation sessions and classroom programs.
7. Conducts oral histories pertaining to the history of the university.
8. Stays abreast of current and emerging standards and trends related to the repository development, archival processing and associated initiatives.
9. Promote the use of collections by students, faculty, staff and the general public through reference, instruction and information services.
10. Assists with the physical care, maintenance, preservation and security of ETRC materials
11. Performs reference service and research assistance for the ETRC.
12. Maintains statistics and prepares departmental reports.
13. May hire, train and supervise student assistants
14. Other duties as assigned.
