Artspace, a non-profit art gallery in New Haven, CT is seeking part-time Project Archivist Assistant for Spring/Summer 2017 for at least 4 hours a week sometime during Mondays 2:30PM-6:30PM, Tuesdays 10:00AM-6:00PM, and Thursdays 11:00AM-3:00PM. Under direct supervision of the Research Manager/Archivist the intern will assist with website and archive development. The Project Archivist Assistant will participate in the following projects: curate the online digital exhibited materials; create digital artifacts; rehouse collections; and assist in data entry as needed.

General Responsibilities:
• Rehouse, and weed materials as needed
• Create inventories for archival collections as needed
• Assist in creating EAD finding aids
• Researching past exhibitions and individual past participants
• Find and create past exhibition descriptions
• Assist with data entry into Salesforce and WordPress
• Organize internal past exhibition binders and assist with storage management
• Scan images or take digital photographs for collections as needed
• Additional tasks as needed

• Experience with data entry
• Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
• Previous experience handling archive, museum, or library collections a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to lift and moves boxes up to 40 pounds in weight, and reach up or down to retrieve boxes on high and low shelving
• Currently in an MLIS program or pursuing a related degree in history, art, etc. or a recent graduate from an MLIS program
• Previous experience at an archive or basic knowledge of archival standards

A travel stipend to cover transportation to and from Artspace will be included. This position can also be used towards credit as an internship. It is the applicant’s responsibility to set up the internship with their school. Artspace will provide performance review and grading, as required.
