Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS) is seeking an Associate Director for Collections, Archives and Library to shape the future of the organization as a part of a dynamic leadership team.
Ideal candidates will be ready and willing to fundamentally reimagine the role of collections in a 21st century historical society. The position reports to the Director/CEO and will be part of the leadership team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing strategy for the organization. The director will supervise a team of up to fourteen and will fully integrate the division’s role with the organization’s strategic objectives.
The Nebraska State Historical Society is an educational institution with a museum, a library and research center, conservation facility, seven historic sites, and the state historic preservation office. The Historical Society preserves and interprets our state’s past, contributes to the education of its citizens, and uses the tools of history to shape a better future for all Nebraskans.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in history, historic preservation, or other field related to Collections, Archives, and Library including: American studies, architecture, archeology, anthropology, archival studies, historic preservation, library science or related field
AND two years experience in cultural resource management; OR a Master’s degree in any of the above mentioned fields. Experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. At least three years’ experience working with museum, library, or archival collections is preferred. Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience with personnel management, project management, and budget administration.
This is a full time exempt position with normal state of Nebraska benefits.
Salary: $28.094-$29.499 per hour plus normal state of Nebraska health benefits, vacation and sick leave and retirement plan.
Some travel may be required.
