Provide overall management for the Archival Services Branch within the Department for Libraries and Archives • Plan develop, coordinate, and administer programs and services of the Archival Services Branch. • Ensure access to public records and monitor space requirements of the State Archives. Monitor branch budget. • Supervise professional/paraprofessional staff. Evaluate staff performance and recommend personnel actions as needed. • Write professional analyses/reports. Analyze branch operations and recommend policy and procedural changes as needed. Provide monthly archival statistics and narrative report to division director, provide professional archival assistance to public agencies. • Serve as liaison with constituencies of researchers who use state archival holdings/services to ensure archival services are responsive to their needs and ensure appropriate customer groups are aware of available services. Serve as liaison to Friends of Kentucky Public Archives Inc. and other groups to support records responsibilities of the division. • Monitor/evaluate existing and proposed statutes, administrative regulations, and agency procedures affecting public records and make recommendations as needed. Analyze branch and division operations and recommend policy and/or procedural changes as needed.
Qualifications / Experience:
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree. EXPERIENCE: Must have four years of professional experience in records management, micrographics, document preservation and/or archival experience in one or more of the following areas: appraisal, accessioning, description and/or the arrangement of documents. SUBSTITUTIONS: Graduate study in archival studies, records management, history, library science, public administration, business administration or related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis not to exceed two years. Additional professional experience in one or more of the above areas will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
Upon appointment, employees in this class may be required to maintain a valid driver’s license and required to drive a licensed vehicle. This status may be necessary for the length of time in this class. If this is necessary it will be listed in the specific position description for that position.
